Welcome to Mobile Social Netwoking

curro dominguez

If you're reading this blog, I'm sure you are a member of, at least, one social network. There are hundreds of different social networks, but all of them have a common goal:

reinforce the things you do in the real world

In this blog you'll find interesting thoughts about how people use social networks and, above all, the new and innovative social networks empowered by mobile devices and mobile social software. New websites, software, business models, experiences and all you want to share. No doubt, mobile social networks are different.

My name is Curro Domínguez and I work for Vodafone R&D. Enjoy this blog!

Eyevibe, the new mobile community in UK

SeeMeTV and LookAtMe are one of those stories that proves why a mobile community is different. No doubt, success is built on user convenience and a rewarding scheme.

Both were launched in UK and both report great numbers in terms of users and earnings.

Now, Eyevibe is born as the combination of SeeMeTV and LookAtMe. They merge both communities (owned by 3 and O2) and make the system available to all UK mobile users, no matter which operator they have.

David Cushman explains the benefits of this project in terms of the 'random friends'.

All social networks you are a member of are never mapped to 'contacts who belong to operator A', they are more like 'old friends', 'mates', 'family', it means, emotionally grouped.

So, it's really interesting to see how users take this new approach.

Why mobile social networking?

You'll probably be tired of 'social' added to every word: social bookmarking, social knowledge, social interaction, social software,...

So, what's the point of starting a new blog about 'mobile social networking'?

First, because it's mobile. I don't think there's a space for social networking without mobile. And secondly, because I really think that the 'social' aspect has a fundamental influence in all our actions and decisions. It means, all the things we've done, our choices have happened because our social side.

So far, technology hadn't helped us so much in reinforcing our social interaction, but now, every small change that makes easier things we do in the real world, opens up a lot of new possibilities.

Welcome to this blog!
